PIP £369.60 monthly Carers Allowance £278.80, monthly
Just so that you're aware the PIP and CA is paid 4 weekly, not monthly.

That's a question I wanted to ask to, will hubby receive his ESA still or do UC take it over and pay it in there claim as i've heard contribution benefits become ESA new style paid in UC?calcotti said:
Husband gets ESA, OP gets CA.atlantis187 said:how can you get esa and carers allowance together?
In which case he must have been getting some income based previously.shell1965 said:If I remember rightly, his ESA at that point, was reduced because of my Carers award..
It will depend on how much contribution ESA he is entitled to as a result of the transitional protection provided when transferred from IB to ESA.Rubyroobs said:Is there any reason why you only receive CB ESA, surely it must be Income related, or at least part of it income related ? Do you have any savings?
I would try both entitledto and turn2us, don’t use Policy in Practice. The results will not be identical but should be close if the information is entered correctly.shell1965 said:.I've done the online benefits entitlement sites but both come up with differing amounts, I was wondering if any knowledgeable person might be able to help with this minefield, thanks..
UC will be standard allowance, LCWRA for him, carer element for you, one child element at the higher rate and three child elements at lower rate plus a housing element (amount will be determined by your rent and whether you have spare bedrooms if in social housing or the relevant LHA if renting privately. This will give you a maximum UC amount.
The amount of UC you will get will be reduced by any contribution based ESA he will continue to get and will also be reduced by the CA.
For comparison purposes just compare the maximum amount of UC with the total of your existing Tax Credits, HB, ESA and CA.
The PIP and CB continue and will not affect the UC and should not be included in the comparison.0 -
My calculation is
Standard couple allowance £525.72
First Child £290.00
3 children £733.74
LCWRA £354.28
carer £168.81
housing (assuming rent is £85/week) £368.33
Total maximum UC = £2,440.88/month
Deduct ESA £727/month
Deduct CA £302.03/month
UC payable = £1,410.85/month
This is equivalent to 325.58/week
It replaces the CTC of £236 and the HB of £85 so you are better off on UC by £4.58/week.
You should check my arithmetic and also compare my result it with the calculators.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1 -
Thank you so much for that, I didn't want to be worrying all weekend that we may possibly be much worse off because he loses the transitional protection part of his ESA because we have to change over and not be naturally migrated, we thought we might end up losing around £200, thanks for your time and your breakdown for us, it's really appreciated!calcotti said:My calculation is

As the ESA is contribution based it is not affected even if you claim UC, it will continue. However as it is deducted from the maximum UC amount when calculating the UC payable it actually makes no difference to your overall income whether you get ESA and UC or just UC.
Please do try the calculators again too.

Each of you that take your time to help out us folk who aren't as savvy are honestly appreciated, thank you all of you...calcotti said:As the ESA is contribution based it is not affected even if you claim UC, it will continue. Hi everyone that has helped so far or is in a similar situation and this post might help.. I have an update so far..
We did a linked joint claim, they asked for our tenancy agreement be uploaded which until this morning we were told to re upload as in next few days as it didn't hold enough info, so I did that this afternoon and have uploaded and they also asked for a utility bill upload, also done this.
I've had my I.D check over the phone this morning before I did the uploads, they have verified my identity now.. he offered an advance and maximum he said we could have was £1044 which made me feel like... wow I expected it to be higher based on what I figured we would get monthly.. unless maybe they haven't calculated the rent figure in because of the tenancy agreement not having enough info? I didn't want the maximum available, just enough to cover the shortfall already in our rent.
Hubby had to have a face to face at the jobcentre this afternoon, they verified his I.D and talked about his health.. the advisor has removed his having to look for work but has said he now needs fit notes and will receive a health questionnaire in the post and will have to fill in and send off then have a medical, also he'll have digital appointments and calls and appointments occasionally at the jobcentre.
The advisor said ESA will continue but in UC? I queried it should remain as is as he's had questionnaires for it previously and a medical but she mumbled yes but this is UC and has to be this way?
We have no further to do's apart from the fit note part.... feel like I'm confused.. is he within his rights to contact ESA and ask to stay on it as it is and ask them to pass his info over to them? Will this likely help?0 -

Will this likely help?If part of his ESA is contributions based this will continue as normal but it will be deducted in full from your UC entitlement. As he's in the Support Group for ESA then he'll be entitled to the LCWRA element from the start of your claim. This has clearly not updated yet on the system as it usually takes a few weeks. No fit notes should be needed but it's not unusual for them to ask for them when you first claim UC.Your advance payment is low because of the missing LCWRA element and housing element that's missing from their calculation.2 -
Yes he's on contribution based, I was trying to figure what might be missing from the calculation.. hopefully as you say, LCWRA will be added although I felt today like they were hinting that he'd be moving to the new style ESA as she was adamant its ESA/UC based..poppy12345 said:shell1965 said:
