HI tested positive for covid yesterday so just had one day off work so far. just wondering what pay am I entitled to while I'm isolating? bearing in mind of course it was my employers idea I should isolate, not mine. also bearing in mind I work in the private sector where every penny counts. I have no union, no super duper sick scheme, its just the billy basics. any help on this appreciated.

I just got clear last weekend
I work in the private sector as well so no sick pay unless SSP either
However seeing as I was the last person in work to contract it, and seeing as the only symptom I had was pure exhaustion, I returned to work after 48 hrs ( with everyone agreement - theres only 12 of us on site )The hours I lost are being covered by holiday pay rather then applying for SSP and getting sod all. Im happy with that, as is the boss. When Isolation was compulsory he paid normal wages but now its not, we are happy to use our holidays0 -

Thats what you'll get paid unless your manager has agreed (hopefully in writing) to a better term than the contract.
Right now there is no legal need to isolate (or even test). So if you feel well enough to work you can. If you don't feel well then you get whatever sick pay your contract entitles you to.
If your workplace wants you to stay away and you cannot work from home, you need to ask them what they are going to pay you.0 -
I have emailed our hr manager. she tells me all I will get whilst isolating, is ssp. they do not want me in there while I'm like this, coughing sneezing and sweating a lot.
so I've cashed in a isa which I had, to keep me going financially. In the meantime I guess I have to wait for it to pass, and at some stage go back to work.0 -

What does your contract say in regards to sick pay?0 -

basically it says if you are absent from work, due to sickness or injury, you will be paid ssp in accordance with the gov guide lines.
so as I said before, I have no body taking my side and looking after my interests as those who work in the public sector do. its take it or leave it.0 -
In work with us you get SSP from day 4 so if you isolate for 5 days, you only get SSP for 2 of those days.0

If you want someone to lobby on your behalf to improve your terms and conditions then join a union (assuming your place of work recognises one).0 -

Is there any work you can do from home?
Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
