Why do DVLA change more if you pay your Road Tax via DD?

They charge extra for monthly DD payments because they can. I pay my council tax by monthly DD over 12 months - the total cost is the same as if I paid it one lump sum, or monthly in cash. I could pay DD over 10 months, or have it deducted from my salary over 10 months. Whichever method you choose, the total payment is the same. It suits the council to have more people pay by DD so they don't charge for it.0

The council can include the admin coasts of DD when they set the amount of council tax. The DVLA canlt. The government set the amount payable.
You pay for internet services up front.

Why should they offer a discount for giving you credit? Try going to you bank and ask if you can borrow £1,000 but only pay back £990 because you're willing to pay by DD
DVLA don't give you credit though. They give you literally nothing, no service, no goods.
They just grab your money which is usually not even used for road maintenance/repairs.

VED has never been used for roads. That stopped in 1926 - do keep up.Alex9384 said:Sandtree said:The surcharge is for paying monthly/every 6 months not for DD itself, if you pay annually by DD there is no increase.

If I'm not mistaken, the government can use that money for whatever they wish, which may or may not include some roadworks too.[Deleted User] said:VED has never been used for roads. That stopped in 1926 - do keep up.
The main point was , someone said DVLA give you "credit". I disagree with that. They don't provide services or goods in advance. They don't provide anything apart from your V5C which should cost 5 quid.
Therefore, no credit. They are just leeching money for nothing.
