Fuel Gauge and Miles left in Tank
Comments
-
Did you brim it at last fill? 78 miles is around a couple of gallons at 40mpg, less if you get more, so it should start to drop soon.
But then you say the gauge is 8 bars, which is a very coarse indication of remaining fuel. An old fashioned needle is very fine, sweeping across the dial in line with the changes in the fuel level, whereas logically your 8 bars (and mine) don't change until an eighth of the fuel has been used. 60 litres (my tank, yours may be more or less) is about 13 gallons, an eighth of that is just a bit over one & half galls, and at ~40mpg is less than two gallons, so your gauge should move off the top mark in the next 10-20 miles, assuming my finger in the air guesswork about your tank capacity, how much you put in last time and your mpg are close enough to your reality.1
