I have just remembered something regarding RBS and would use the embarrassed emoji if I knew how.
It is possible RBS may not have required the donor to register the POA, but as my memory is flaky I can’t be sure.
The reason dad had to visit the branch was we called RBS and got dad to go through security. Due to his condition he couldn’t answer all the questions so mum and I prompted him. The RBS operative heard this and said dad had to answer all the questions without help, and promptly put a stop on the account.
Dad had to go into branch with ID to get the account usable again. So all of us went to do this and register the POA.
Whether RBS require the donor to be present I do not know.
Sorry for giving out potentially incorrect information. Mea Culpa

Edited: as I had misspelled 'whether'.
