British Gas Fixed Nov 2023

I’ve got 12 days left to get out of this fix and can’t decide whether its a good offer or not. I’m hard of hearing so don’t want to phone BG.
At present I’m paying BG Standard variable,Gas SC 27.220 Unit 7.282, Electric SC 44.750 Unit 27.627 but the new fix is Gas SC 25.576 Unit 11.936, Electric SC 40.368 Unit 39.747 with a £100 per fuel exit fee.
Can anybody advise please.

What is your annual usage for gas and electricity?
  • 11936 for Gas and 3490 for electric, hope this helps?

For your usage this is a 45.63% increase over current SVT.

  • Are you saying the fix is too expensive and I’m best to stay on the SVR? It’s certainly over the 40% that ML mentions but it is until Nov 2023.

If you check the tables you can see that the possible savings against the predicted new SVT is £13.

Put that against what you pay more for the first three month, potential decrease in April and July 2023 and make up your mind.

As you said it is above the percentage where the fixed tariff should be considered.
  • Thank you so much for your trouble, your figures have made it so much easier for me to make a decision which is to stay on SVT. It made me laugh that BG managed to change my smart meter tariff on same day that I accepted the new November tariff but prior to that the meter was still on the fix to April 2022 figures!! I had an apology saying they couldn’t alter the figures but the kWh were correct!!!!!
