Changing Hotel with Jet2

We’ve had a holiday boom with Jet2 since middle last year.
We want to change the hotel (same resort, flights etc).
I found the hotel we wanted and the price was about the same as we already paid. 

I was aware we’d have to pay the amendment fees, no problem with that. But I was told the hotel I wanted to change to was £1600 more than what I have seen it for online. When I asked why she wasn’t able to offer any sort of explanation!
Shouldn’t  I be able to pay the advertised price plus the amendment fees?

The amendment fee is payable per person and will be advised at the time of the change. For current amendment fees please see below. This is payable at the time of the change and is non-refundable. You can’t make any changes once you’ve checked in online. And certain changes are not allowed within 21 days of departure.

Changing your hotel = you will have to pay cancellation fees ( which are more than amendment fees and may be up to 90% ) and then the charges for the new hotel on top of that.
