When is your renewal actually due? Car insurance can be significantly cheaper if you buy it three to four weeks before your renewal date than if you leave it to the last minute.

Unfortunately that could mean that the best tip for getting a lower quote is "first, build a time machine...)

Get a lower group car and/or use a site like quidco/etc and tied in with the cashback you are bound to find something cheaper.

Daughters insurance stayed about the same even with an extra years no claims, under 6 years so usually still at a smaller
discount level but no decrease. Better cover and improved breakdown though.

Mine went down by about £70.   So seems as usual its swings and roundabouts, for some its cheaper and others its dearer and some no difference.

Traditionally NCD maxes out at 5 years, a minority give NCD up to 9 years however in most cases the max actual discount is the same irrespective if its earned at 5 year or 9 years just with some companies it takes longer to get to the max. Once you pass 5 years it tends only to be an additional 1% or so PA discount until you hit max.

Given the current rate of inflation etc any NCD saving will be wiped out by inflationary pressures.

Not especially sound advice - take a hit on depreciation for something that actually might make little ir no difference at all.
  • Do you have an additional driver on the policy?
Depending on that driver it can sometimes reduce the premium.
