Parking Eye Asda

Hi Guys
Apologies if there is a post covering this, I have looked but I can't find it.
My parents visited an town they don't live in and parked in an ASDA car park. They swear they didn't see any parking signs despite looking but have got a PCN from Parking Eye. I have used this forum before so knew to send the response form the newbies thread and wait for POPLA etc. My mum received a letter back that's thrown me a bit though.
It says the appeal has been referred for more information and says that she said she wasn't the driver at the time (she didn't she picked the no disclosing option). It gives 28 days and says 'after 29 days from the Date of Issue, the parking charge has not been paid in full and we do not know both the name and current address of the driver, we have the right to recover any unpaid part of the parking charge from you'.
I'm just checking that I am right to advise her to ignore this letter and wait for the POPLA code?
Also, I have noticed some saying to just ignore Parking Eye, is this the current advice regarding PE and is this completely, or just if POPLA is rejected?
Thanks in advance

Should just be complaining to Asda! Easy route.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

What has Asda had to say when you made a complaint to them? They don't normally like having their customers penalised and harassed by a third party agent whilst doing their shopping with them. They should value their customer base, especially during current economic circumstances. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. They didn't just go to ASDA, they were parked there for a while. My dad said he looked for parking signs and never saw any, so thought they would be fine0

Which Asda? Which town?1

They should complain to every store, shop, or establishment visited on the day, and the landowner, and complain to their MP.
Failing a landowner/store manager/ceo cancellation, they should appeal using the template in blue text from the sticky Announcement for NEWBIES.
They should also get pics of the site and signage in readiness for a second stage appeal or court.

Doesn't mean they can't complain to Asda head office. They can cancel it in one day.AJBarlow said:They didn't just go to ASDA, they were parked there for a while. Was this an Asda exclusive car park, or a multi-outlet site? If exclusive, where else did your parents go while leaving their car at Asda? Things have changed in the world of private parking, no longer can you dump the car on a supermarket car park and go wandering off into town. It's imperative that signage is very carefully read, understood and complied with, that's why regulars here never get private parking charges. Help your parents to understand this, otherwise they are sitting ducks for more penalties further down the line!AJBarlow said:They didn't just go to ASDA, they were parked there for a while. If you or they are close to this Asda store, go and get photos of the (lack of) signage, because they might need it if their defence is to rest on this. But, I must say that PE are 'professional', they don't start 'farming' car parks unless all their ducks are in a row, and every Asda supermarket car park I've driven into has PE signs everywhere and absolutely unmissable. Go get the photos. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front.
