been discharged but not larger new debt since
cost of living crisis plus UC sanctions mean many just can’t pay bills?
what happens when council tax, utilities and other bills have not been paid for a long time?
if all the court appearances have been ignored and no bailiff or debt collectors are ever answered when calling at the door?
what is going to happen when huge numbers of people are in this position?
they can’t switch off the entire street? And it’s not possible to switch off one house.

Well I suppose instead of hypothesising about everyone else, we concentrate on the real question, what are you doing about this to help yourself ?
There is help out there for CT and utility bill arrears, councils have been given grants by the Government for those in dire need, yes you have to jump through hoops for the money, but if your situation is that dire ???
You don`t give us very many details to work with here, but I would suggest contacting one of the debt charities in my signature, as it appears you need help and guidance with this, the court thing won`t just go away, you will at some point have to deal with it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Why do you think it's not possible to cut off utilities from one house? You are wrong by the way. The only thing that cannot be cut off is water supply. Electricity and gas supplies can be terminated.

Anyone who is happy to share enough information about their specific circumstances will be pointed in the right direction. Those who just want to debate need to find a different forum which allows discussion. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

OP, you’ve put the same post in the benefits section. It would be better to keep to one place to save duplicating answers. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Is that it then? The answer is nothing will happen after lots of threats in letters and debt collection goons?0

My fathers house was marked as dangerous after he was moved to a dementia care home and the gas and electricity cut off. That was a standard 1950s terraced house, I don’t know why some people think that utilities can’t be cut off to a specific property?I’ll ask the forum team to merge this with the other thread and decide which board is most suitable for it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. but if they can’t get peaceful entry then they can’t switch you off.
if they fit prepaid meters then you can’t switch them back on0 -
I don't think you can turn water off but turn it down so less goes through the pipes. Also I think there is a cut off point between house and main connection to grid / gas network that we as consumers don't have access to.May you find your sister soon Helli.

The answer is nothing will happen after lots of threats in letters and debt collection goons? No matter how many times you ask this and in different ways the answer will be the same.Energy companies can apply for a warrant to force entry to fit prepayment meters and unless you can pay the arrears in one go when the warrant has been granted then it is probably going to happen.A warrant of disconnection can be applied for and, unless there is a structural reason why not, they can cut off one house from the supply. They would remove the meter and cap the pipes if gas and can cut off in the street if electricity. The warrant would cover forcing entry to cut the supply if needed. If you tamper with that you would face criminal charges for abstraction of energy (electricity) or the theft of gas and other charges around the safety of what you have done.
