Servicing and PCP
Hey, I'm a year into my first PCP with an EV. How strict is servicing on a PCP, or do I just need to contact the lender. My service is due next month but the cars first MOT is due September. Would it be an issue when I come to hand it back if I delay the service to tie the two in together? Thank you 😊

It will affect residuals and as such the guaranteed trade in value when returned.0

There's usually a 'grace period' when you get the service done, but 3-months may be pushing it.
Is it really that much of an inconvenience to go back twice in a space of 3-months? MOT can be done anywhere local.0 -
Thank you, I'll just get the service booked in. Was wanting to combine as it's an EV so still less widely taken by garages.0

It won’t matter in practice at all. Other than obviously would you want to risk your car having its service delayed? But in terms of your service history and pcp it wont impact it at all if you delay it, unless you have a mechanical issue as a result. End of the day cars during covid went without service in many cases and people still could do the normal things at the end of their deals. You might need to pay for a service or take less in part exchange if you are one service less than they expect…at worst.

Why not just get both service and MOT done now?0

You can get an MOT a month at most early is my understanding.0

Not money saving I know, but you could get the MOT done at the same time as the service. The only problem is that it will run out at the same time as the service next year, so you will need to bring the service forwards a few days next time.Or if you know the last acceptable date of the required service and the earliest date you can get it MOT'd (30 days before first registration date) there might be an overlap and you could get both done during the overlap and keep the MOT date.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Not servicing it to schedule will affect it's value and potentially any warranty (but it's getting an MOT it's maybe leaving warranty anyway).
If you're planning on buying the car at the end of the term and running it into the ground, I wouldn't worry about it. If you're planning on handing the car back or selling it at some point, I'd just get the service done when it's due.

Yeah, you can get an MOT within a month to keep the existing date, but you can also get it any time and just reset the date.
I've done it before to align service and MOT to avoid having to take the car in twice.
