New energy supply, not switch!

I am moving home in August and I have started shopping around for energy suppliers. I do not have an account in my name at the moment and there isn't a choice of starting a new account; all the big players say it's not a good time to switch! I know this is because the current occupier has an account with Eon, but it's very frustrating...
Anyone got any ideas on this? Surely someone must have opened a new account without switching?

You must start with Eon.
On the day you move in take meter readings (and a picture) contact Eon , give them your details and ask to go on their SVT - resist any pressure to go on a fix.
Then in theory you can switch - in practise very difficult - their rates are pretty much the same anyway.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
