Love Holidays/Easyjet Flight Cancelled - Only flights that day are Ryanair but more expensive

Options
We have been informed that our flights to Greece in Aug have been canceled. We booked through Loveholidays and are flying with Easyjet.
We have been automatically moved to an alternative London airport but coming back a day earlier. There are no longer any Easyjet flights that come back on the day we need. Ryanair have a flight available that comes back on the correct date however it will cost about £600 more in total (for 4) than we paid for the easyjet flights.

I am just not sure of our rights, I really can't afford the extra £600? Can I get Easyjet/love holidays to cover the cost and book us on the ryanair as there is no other alternative?

There is an easyjet flight flying home a day later which I can book on but don't' think there is hotel availability (Not sure I could afford it either)

Would welcome any advice. Waiting for love holidays to get in touch (Can take 7 days they say!! (from Friday))

If it is a package, it is Loveholidays' responsibility to arrange a new flight for you but I think I have read a similar query before in which they refused to do so.

When a package provider is forced to make a change due to circumstances beyond their control (as here), then they're obliged to put forward a revised package (with an adjusted cost if necessary), which the customer can either accept or reject for a full refund.

If their proposed change involves a reduction in the duration of the holiday then they should lower the price accordingly - have they?

There's no harm in negotiating to see what you can achieve, but I don't believe you can force them to swallow the additional cost of replacement flights on the same day, so if not then you'll probably be left with four choices:
    1. Accept their proposed flight but at a lower total package cost (due to one less night in resort)
    2. Pay the extra to return on the original date on the more expensive flights
    3. Put forward another option acceptable to them (based on the later flight but funding an extra night in resort)
    4. Obtain a full refund

All of the above, plus to add that depending on the terms & conditions with Love Holidays, they may consider one London airport the same as another London airport. E.g. flying back into London Gatwick instead of London Luton as being comparable.

I very much doubt LH will agree to spending £600 for Ryanair alternative flights.  I suspect it will either come down to accept what given and perhaps look for a small token gesture, or take a refund.

Thank you, When they finally communicate with me I will see what they can offer. I am in the mean time trying to speak to easyjet directly to see if they will reroute the flight to another airline given that there are no available easyjet flights. Their T&Cs seems to talk about it but I get through to someone, they put me on hold.... and then cut me off!

Luckily for us we can make any of the London airports work (Although not ideal!!)
I just wish I could actually speak to someone. Thanks for your post.

Those rights are only likely to apply if you've booked flights directly with them, but as you've booked a package with Loveholidays, EasyJet are unlikely to consider themselves responsible for rerouting you, especially if you'd want them to do so at no extra cost....
