Is it possible to paint a plastic car roof box, so it still looks OK
Our box has been sitting in the garden for a good while and is faded and scuffed badly, so I was thinking quick paint job would freshen it up, although of course i want to do this correctly, so the paint doesn't peel off in the first rain :(
What paint should i use please ?

Roof boxes will never look cool. As long as it works as a box forget the paint job.

Plenty of plastic cleaners / bumper / trim shines on the market.  Assuming its not a painted finish already so have my doubts whether
plasticote will work.  My old black Halfords box always had a shiny greasy feel to it.

Actually you are probably 100% correct ... I looked on YouTube and it seems a lot of faff, for not much gain

Worth a try is AutoGlym Bumper and Trim Gel which will normally restore the colour finish and return the shine- but it depends how badly faded it is.- good luck.

Painting it will likely only make it look worse.
  • I have tried various gels without success on my Halfords roof box .  I later painted it with PVC paint and it looks like new

AutoGlym Bumper and Trim Gel is the way I would go.
Or a blow tourch, like the seats at a football game.

Or just get a bigger car.
