Advice please - Easyjet -extending car hire period due to flight cancellation

Can someone help please? We booked Easyjet flights to Faro in January, and car hire through theEasyjet site for the holiday period. The car hire was £650. Last week Easyjet cancelled our return flight and booked us onto a different flight on the following day. I need to extend the car hire period by 14 hours. Easyjet say…

Can you not get the extra nights accommodation nearer the airport that doesn't require you to extend the car hire?
