It would need more than a manifold change.
forgotmyname said it. They continue to inject a reduced amount of diesel to ignite the compressed lpg/air mix in the cylinder.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I'm confused now. Do they do LPG suv diesels please?0

Fully LPG, no.2

You cannot run a diesel solely on LPG.

ok, thanks both.0

I'm sure it's possible to run a diesel engine on almost anything that burns. Rudolph Diesel even managed to run one on coal dust, rather than the usual peanut oil.But you would have to redesign the whole fuel injection system to run on LPG. Diesel engines require the fuel to be injected into the cylinders, not mixed with the incoming air.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
There are kits that will allow you to "partially" convert a diesel engine to allow it to run on a mix of diesel and LPG or CNG, though they are mainly marketed for trucks and large machinery.
AC Stag sell a kit that will run up to 40% LPG and up to 60% CNG.
The kit isn't that expensive (though fitting might be) and will work on most diesels, even the latest common rails.
Trouble is, here in the UK LPG and CNG aren't widely available anymore, though in places like France,Italy and some other european countries it's very much more widely available and less than half the price of petrol and diesel.

noticed this in an asda filling station t'other day...petrol 189.9, deisel 199.9, LPG 79.9 (all per litre) so LPG still good value if you have a converted motor........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Diesel on LPG (80p/ltr) requires cyl head off, drilled for a spark plug per cylinder, new pistons to drop the compression ratio and fitting an ignition system...
BTW, CNG is 20p a ltr... and is used by British Oxygen (well they have the gas)Now we all know how it felt to play in the band on the Titanic...0 -
