Cost of Living Payment

Hello All. Happy Sunday.

I’ve tried looking through previous threads but not quite sure.

I’m entitled to UC having switched from Tax Credits (since April 2022). I also work a full time job. I don’t receive any UC payments directly as these are paid straight to the landlord (council) for rent and I just pay any top-up.

Would I be eligible for the cost of living payments and would they come to me or go straight to the landlord.

I’ve just checked my July payment statement and there’s no mention of the cost of living payment but I’m not sure if this would be included on there or not.

Who pays your council tax and how ?
The government have tasked local councils with paying the £150 payment to eligible households, different councils are dealing with this bothersome task in different ways.
"If" you pay your council tax bill by direct debit then your council might pay the £150 into your bank account, or use it to reduce your council tax bill, if  the money hasnt turned up, look on the council website.
    for instance
I assume your property is within the bands A to D ? As they are the  only properties this payment applies to.

OP isn't asking about the £150 council tax rebate, they are asking about the cost of living payment of £650.

To get the first Cost of Living Payment of £326, you must have been entitled to a payment (or later found to be entitled to a payment) of Universal Credit for an assessment period that ended in the period 26 April 2022 to 25 May 2022

The first payment of £326 will be made from 14th to 31st July and be paid to you.

The 2nd payment of £324 will be paid in the Autumn but dates haven't yet been announced. It will be paid separately to your usual money. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/cost-of-living-payment

If you're named on an energy account you will also be entitled to the £400 energy grant, which will be added to your energy account from October.

The Cost of Living payments are separate from UC and will I would not expect them to appear on the UC statements.

Although your payments are going direct to your landlord you are entitled to UC so should get the Cost of Living payment. It should be paid to you.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
