Some providers will provide a speed guarantee of sorts.  If the speed isn't reached for x days they will reduce the cost, and this is what the current provider has done for the OP.  As the cabling generally isn't owned by the service provider there is nothing they can do if said cabling provider can't fix the problem, other than let the customer out of their contract.

OK - yes, I see that point. Just that where I live 4G was the only way of getting decent speed. So I’m just a bit peed off and need to rant!
BT have an obligation to provide you with broadband running at a minimum of 10mb have you explored this with them?

They gave us a 4G hub, mobile signal is pretty poor here but it works well enough.

If there is a problem with the network you are likely to face the same issue but would have more of a base to push BT to get the correct speed.

What does the Three broadband cost you each month OP?

This appears to be a mobile network contract, not home broadband.

The OP implies that he is only using 4G for his internet connection because his home broadband with 3 is poor. @the_lunatic_is_in_my_head has shown that an alternative is available.

Not the way I read it. Will have to wait for the OP to come back and clarify.

Thanks, I read it as the OP primarily has the EE contract due to low speeds at home.

There is a legal right to 10Mb broadband and BT took on the obligation (or KCOM for the Hull area), if OP cancelled EE and Three swapping those for 4G with BT (which starts at about £46 a month IIRC) they would still face the same speeds with BT as they are currently getting with EE but presumably BT has to do something if they can't meet the speeds their obligation demands.

4G fills the gaps where there's no fibre, where there isn't fibre or 4G BT cover the first £3400ish of installation, they obviously won't do this if 4G has a temporary problem so if the OP was on their case they'd hopefully compensate instead.

No sure if OP has 4G with Three or something else for their home broadband but as far as I know Three doesn't have that obligation to meet the 10Mb minimum.

A chat with BT would put the OP in the picture more and they can decide what's best for them going forward.
