Faulty uPVC door

I had a uPVC door supplied and fitted by a double glazing company a few months ago. After the work had been completed I noticed there was a draught coming in between the frame and the door. There is a visible gap between the rubber seal on the frame and the door. I contacted the double glazing company but despite two visits they failed to rectify the problem. They are now telling me that the door is defective but it is not their responsibility to get it fixed because they are only responsible for the fitting of the door and that is ok. They are telling me that it is the responsibility of their door supplier to rectify the problem. The double glazing company have passed my contact details on to their door supplier and wiped their hands of the matter. Their door supplier has not been in touch. The double glazing company has also told me that if I get another company in to rectify the problem and try to claim back the cost from them it will make the warranty void. Is the double glazing company allowed to do this?

If you paid the double glazing company for the supply as well as the fitting of the door it is their problem if the door is faulty. You must deal only with them and they must go back to their supplier.
Try a letter explaining this and if they persist saying it is not their problem a LBA should spur them into action.
  • Thanks for your reply. I did pay the double glazing company for the supply and fitting. I have emailed them numerous times. The last one was 2 days ago when I gave them 4 weeks to rectify the problem or I will get someone else in to do it. They replied with a "not our problem go away" email. I will send another one telling them I will only deal with them and that I intend to carry out my threat to get someone else in to rectify the problem.
