Waste pipe plumbing question

The plumber has been round to move the sink and radiator and he did it as you guys suggested! Now I'm trying to reconnect the dishwasher. In my impatience when I was trying to disconnect it orginally, I just cut off the end of the drain hose from the old spigot when I couldn't undo the clip.So now do I need to take apart the dishwasher and replace this with a new drain hose? Looks quite fiddly involving taking the dishwasher to pieces.Or can I attach what's left of the old hose to a drain hose extension kit? I'm obviously missing the grey rubber sheath and clip that are needed to secure it to the spigot.Thanks!0

You definitely need the rubber end to connect the hose to the spigot. With some DIY skills you can connect reliably a new hose or a short part of it to the existing one. Failing that replacing is the only remaining option. I don't think it's as hard as you think.

But I guess this would be what I should try squishing it into, and wrapping a lot of plumbers' tape around the join.

I'd put a smear of silicone sealant on the barbed spigot and the push the hose on. A jubilee clip to clamp the hose up, and it shouldn't leak. The hose should be a fairly tight fit over the spigot - If it isn't, then have a look for a replacement.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
