Extended TV Warranty?

I've just purchased a fairly expensive TV which unfortunately only comes with a 1 year warranty. I'm debating whether it's worth taking out an insurance extended warranty, though I'm not even sure who with.
The TV cost over £1.5k so surely its reasonable to expect this to last far longer than 12 months? I used Paypal so I'm not sure if that has any similar rights to credit card section 75.
I'm pondering over whether or not to return the TV because of the warranty. The same set with a 5 year warranty is at least £500 more to purchase from the next cheapest retailer. I appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

Most manufacturers only offer one year warranty unless you purchase from somewhere like Richer Sounds or John Lewis.Paypal Credit or just normal paypal?Have a read up of your consumer rights here - https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/consumer-rights-refunds-exchange

It is 3 monthly payments of which I've paid 1 month so far.I did read through the Consumer Rights page and it's quite vague. It mentions that a product must last a reasonable amount of time. Who decides how long is a reasonable amount of time? Thanks!

Thanks!Sounds like paypal credit - you'd need to check though.Only a court can really decide what is reasonable, however you'd expect a TV that cost £1500 to last longer then a simlar TV that cost £200.In regards to consumer rights, after six months the onus is on you to prove that the TB failed due to inherent fault, ie one that was present at manufacturer but has now only just failed because of that. This can be done via a report from a TV repair company. If the report iis in your favour, then the retailer will have to refund the cost of the report and provide a remedy - Repair, Replace or Refund. A refund can be partial due to the use you have had of the TV. You can select a prefrence, however the retailer gets to choose the most cost effective solution.

Thanks for that explanation. I guess it would be a lot less hassle if I can find a third party warranty at a decent price. It sounds like a lot of hassle. I'm also still considering cancelling. I'll look into Paypal Credit as well. Thank you!

How long have you worked there? What are your career plans with them? Less of an issue if you aren't the employee2 -

Put the money you saved via perks at work & say £10 a month into a savings acc to cover cost of a ins package. If it does not breakdown, like the vast majority of TV's then you are quids in. If it does then you have a fund to cover the costs 👍

On what basis? You are passed the 14 day online return. Guessing you bought online. If bought in a shop then no hope of a return on that basis.Life in the slow lane0 -

Until my latest purchase I'd never had a problem with a TV within the period which would be covered even by a 5 year warranty. The latest TV lost picture completely after just over 2 years, but thankfully has a 5 year JL warranty. It's with them now for repair. The money I've saved over the years by not paying for warranties would more than cover the cost of a new TV.
