Vendor Refusing Structural Survey?

Looking for a bit of insight into if this is allowed and is okay.

Our vendor is refusing for us to have a structural survey done on the property we are trying to buy.
We did have this booked in but the surveyor had informed the vendor that he was running late on the day planned. Turned up and the vendor wasn’t there. Our surveyor has now informed us when trying to get back in touch with the vendor she has refused to get the booked in and is now refusing any reports to be done on the house.

Our mortgage lenders have told us we need this survey done before they can accept our mortgage offer. So now we’re stuck as if we can’t get the report we will have no choice but to pull out of the sale because our mortgage won’t be accepted without this.

Wondering if anyone has had anything similar and if there’s any advise for going forward?

Thanks

There's nowt so queer as folk, but perhaps there's now another favoured buyer and this is just an excuse.
What sort of house is it; ancient or modern, standard or heavily bodged about extended and improved?
Not the same, but when we decided to ask Highways a question regarding the access to a property we were keen on, the vendor sold to someone else. Our concerns made us  'too much trouble.'

Either the vendor changes their mind or you find another property and they find another buyer.
One for the EA to sort out.
    Simple.

As above, part of the estate agent's job is to 'progress the sale' - and that includes getting problems like this sorted out.

Tell the estate agent what's happened, and they should have a 'friendly chat' with the seller to find out what the problem is, and hopefully get them to agree to liaise with the surveyor.

(I guess it could just be something silly, like they took the day off work specially for the surveyor's visit - then he was late, etc, etc, and now the sellers are in a huff about it. If that's the case, the estate agent should be able to talk them down.)

Don't buy without a structural survey if they have seriously just refused it.

Either they're hiding something or they're morons, you wouldn't buy a used car without looking over it and a house is far more valuable and far more expensive to put right so it's only fair to allow proper inspection.

Thanks for the comments. Tried to discuss with the EA they’ve said they’d get back in touch but haven’t so looks like another chase I’ll have to make. I think the vendor may just have her knickers in a twist but she has been a nightmare from day one!
