Being offered a fixed deal showing an annual cost rise of 39%.

Standing charges exactly the same.

Yet unit rate for electricity is 52% higher and unit rate for gas is 48% higher.

How can those give me a 39% rise given the unit standing charges don't change?

Maybe the 39% rise of based on an annual projection compared to the SVT ?

    Are you on the SVT?

Although the standing charges have not changed they are still included in your yearly costs thereby bringing the average increase down to 39%.

    So
    Electric unit rate +52%
    Gas Unit rate +48%
    Electric standing charge +0%
    Gas standing Charge +0%

Average increase (for your usage) = 39%.

If the standing charges are not changing the increase will not be the same for each energy use, the lower you usage the lower your increase will be.

Lets say your current unit rate is 28p and the increase to the rate is 40% = 39.2p new rate. Standing charge is 40p and stays the same.

If you use 10KWh per month your increase is 7.48%

If you use 100KWh per month your increase is 27.88%

And if you use 1000KWh per month the increase is 38.33%

Without having it calculated I assume that the percentages in the recommendations on the site are based on the 12000KWh gas/ 3100KWh electricity Ofgem figures.

I guess I should fix then since my usage will be lower anyway for the next 3 months, it comes with no exit fees if the price goes down.
