Attendance Allowance approval

Hi all

I am trying to get some idea of how long it takes for an application for AA to be approved/rejected and the applicant notified

Ive done some research and the results are a bit contradictory.  Ive found the following

 4 weeks
4-6 weeks
25 working days
40 working days

Theres nothing I could see on the DWP/Gov website

So if anyone works for the DWP or has recently made a claim I would appreciate some clarification.

Many thanks

Even if someone here did work for DWP timescales are only ever a guide. It will depend on each individual case. Potentially several weeks.

I made my own claim for Attendance Allowance on the 29th January 2022.

The first payment was in my bank on the 4th March 2022 and the award letter arrived a few days later.

So in my case just 4 weeks.

My husbands took 8 weeks from the date we rang and asked for the form.

I got 10 weeks of AA paid into my bank account yesterday, so presumably that’s how long it is taking.

I've helped quite a few people apply recently as part of my job role. The majority are taking around 8-9 weeks.
