AudaxerInterested to know how long you have been contributing to the JPM Natural Resources Pension fund?
I invested in this fund 6 months ago. Initially it was doing well (went up as well as down) but in June itself I have lost 15K with this fund and 10K in other funds. Most of the 15K is last week alone. Yesterday alone was 5K. Please note when I say 'lost' I mean my capital has gone down by 15K plus all gains that were ever there on my pension.0 -
deepam, could you post a list of the investments available to you?0

I suppose I can invest in any funds available on standardlife website. https://www.standardlife.co.uk/investments/tools/fund-performance

OP, do you have anyother pensions or ISAs and if so how are they invested? Right now you are just gambling by throwing money into funds without any strategy or understanding what you are doing. Take some time to educate yourself about the basics of prudent investing and personal finances. Make sure you pay off high interest debt like credit cards, do a budget so you can control your spending, keep at least 6 months spending in the bank for emergencies and learn about sensibly diverse funds...stay away from anything with "Natural Resources" in the title as it will be concentrated in a single sector of the economy.
This is a good starting point.

That's surprising as the chart further up this thread shows that the JPM Natural Resources fund is up 14.3% over the last 6 months.deepam said:

You can only invest in the funds which are available under your plan......and many of SL's plans have a limited list of available funds. What is your plan called exactly?deepam said:

There is little point spending time/effort researching funds might well be unavailable to you in your particular pension plan.
You mentioned that you'd lost money in other funds too......if you want the best feedback, you need to let members know what funds you are invested in and the percentage of the total in each.......and by total I mean all your investments, not just the SL plan.0 -

I suggest having a look into HSBC Shariah fund with material exposure to tech companies which are expected to lead the re-bound. As with other funds, this has taken a beating last few months and the prices are cheap.

I have a couple of infrastructure funds, and they have done well this year so far against the general trend. So as you say a good diversifier, but not suitable as a core investment.older_and_no_wiser said:
It's actually done well compared to other funds in the last year. However it's got a very small number of stocks in it so is vulnerable to large swings. Thinking long term, will it underperform once the market picks up. You are putting a lot of eggs into one basket as it's themed. Maybe okay for a small satellite investment but certainly not as the core of a pension fund.....my opiniondeepam said:@Linton suggests that I should buy a broad global fund. Any suggestions which one would that be (ISIN number)?
I am trying to read up on funds. Any comments on 'Stan Life LF Macq Global Infrastructure Securities Pn S3' (GB00B3K5WJ87) fund?0 -
