Any practical difference between modern upvc/composite door?

I understand old doors had problems with locks being insecure.
If a new upvc door is "secured by design" is there any practical difference with a composite door?
I understand composite doors are stronger from having the panels kicked in, but is that really something that happens?
As long as I'm not living in an area that has metal grilles in front of the doors, I assume there's no practical difference.
I read composite doors are more insulated, but I'm guessing that will save very little.
Also, what about the security of glass in modern doors? We were thinking just a solid door with peephole on the assumption it's harder to break than glass. But then, what's the point of breaking a bit of a door when there's no rim lock anymore to flick to open the door? So may as well have glass that's not wide enough for a person to get through?
I'm not that interested in composite doors having different colours since I quite like the white and assume colours will fade in the sun.
