Changing tariff
Hi all,
I heard the tariffs that martin lewis explained in his 5live slot last week(14th June) and was wondering how i go about possibly changing from our current tariff with shell to any of the others available with other providers considering price comparison websites are now apparently not able to show any deals available?
would the best way be to just phone the relevant company up and ask to be changed over or is there a particular way?
Any help would be most appreciated
Regards Mark

Many of the tariffs available last week have been withdrawn now as we got a new higher prediction for the increase in October.
Almost everything else is only on offer for existing customers, the energy suppliers will not accept new customers on SVT, and the fixed tariffs are only offered to existing customers.
Who is your current supplier, did you check if they offer a fixed tariff?
Edit
Just saw you are with Shell, they don't offer fixed tariffs.
Eon had a fixed tariff for non customers, but I believe it also has been withdrawn.0 -
At the moment most suppliers aren't taking on new customers so you're really stuck with the best offer your current supplier gives you.
You could try phoning around, someone had posted an OVO offer that was open to all but it wasn't great and had high exit fees.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

As per link below an Ovo (not Eon) open market deal seems to be still available to new customers, but 46% increase over current SVT.

Thank you all for your replies.
It appears that I need to make a few phone calls especially to my current supplier.

Giraffe76.
I am in the same boat as you with Shell.
My fix ended and now on the only tariff Shell has (Flexible7).After reading on another forum that someone had called Shell and got a fixed tariff last week and also a twitter post that shows a screenshot of a live chat saying fixed tariffs were being reintroduced end of June, I called Shell to be told sorry, no fixes available but will be, however no idea when!!! Keep checking your account.
For a couple of weeks I’ve been looking at comparison sites and wondering wether to jump ship and move to another supplier but now any quotes worth having are no longer available. Here’s hoping Shell come up with a loyalty fix soon.0 -
I've contacted shell and they said they don't have any fixed deals which I'm disappointed with.
Can anyone tell me if comparison sites are working/excepting customers changing their tariffs or do I have no choice but to stay with shell

There are currently very few fixes worth taking, there is the odd loyalty one that could just about be worth it on an educated guess, but you are not missing out.Giraffe76 said:I've contacted shell and they said they don't have any fixed deals which I'm disappointed with.
The comparison sites are not working correctly no. You can move to some other suppliers by phoning them (British Gas, EDF and Octopus I think) but you will not be any better off by doing so.Giraffe76 said:Can anyone tell me if comparison sites are working/excepting customers changing their tariffs or do I have no choice but to stay with shell0 -
Hi Giraffe,
I don't agree with the above post entirely.
It is unclear how long you have to be with EDF or British Gas if you switch to them before they offer you a fixed rate.
However if you do decide a switch to Octopus is for you there are options there to beat the expected price rises in October. How long they are around for though is anyone's guess.

There was also chat about a deal with green energy so they also might be worth a switch to.. definitely a fix deal to consider and an option call tide which could work well for people at home all day and able to use energy at certain times.
