Why different scores from different companies?

I'm registered with Experian, Clear Score and Credit Karma, and each gives me a different credit score. I'm not talking about a few points difference, for example, Experian has me in the high 600s whilst Credit Karma has me in the low 300s! Anyone have any idea why?

@goldenlady29 The scores don't really matter, only the actual contents of your credit report do.
One explanation for wildly inconsistent scores across two credit files could be due to an account with adverse data (eg: a personal loan on which you've missed payments recently or a defaulted utilities account) only reporting to one of the credit bureaus and not the other.I am a Mortgage Adviser - You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Nope. But it doesn't matter because nobody but you ever sees the random scores. It's your credit history that lenders and financial institutions are bothered about - how you conduct your financial affairs.
I have no debt right now and haven't had for months. I use one credit card and clear it every month.
My Clearscore and Experian scores are at 100%.
But as with you, Credit Karma usually gives me a mid-way number and says 'fair, let's see how you can improve your score' - or something just as silly.
As long as your credit history is good, the scores don't matter. You're doing good! Don't let Credit Karma bring you down. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. In this country credit scores are use as marketing tools to sell you credit improvement products, such as high interest credit cards and loans etc, all run by the CRA`s.
The score that actually matter`s is the one you never get to see or even know what it is, and that`s the score lenders give you based on your actual information that`s on file.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. CRA's may as well say you have a credit score of 2x Rich Tea and a Bourbon, it matters not one jot.Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0
