Macerator Cleaner

The engineer that installed our Grundfos macerator recently advised us not to waste money on expensive dedicated cleaners, but to use cheap thin bleach to clean the loo, as this would not perish the rubber seals etc in the unit itself.
I understand you need to be very careful what you put down there, but can anyone recommend anything that actually smells nice too? Something to clean the bowl on a daily basis, rather than a proper descaler to be used every so often.
