Banking App Notifications - On of Off?

Do you have notifications for money coming in / leaving your account?
I can imagine for some people, their phones may be going off quite a few times a day.
"for most accounts" - for nearly all of your accounts, regardless of type
"for main accounts only" - for main current accounts (IE, not savings)

Yes - For Most AccountsI have them on my two accounts, you can set individual notifications to silent so all I get is a pop up on the notification bar.0

It is not a simple yes / no answer though is it. Mine are pretty much "yes but only if .........." as you can set parameters for the notifications. Some will have them set to all transactions and others for >£100.

It's a case of "pick the closest" - isn't that what people do in polls?
Perhaps the nosiness I am wondering is whether people, in general have ANY notifications... if most of your accounts notify you (depending on whether you have them set up to only do so over £100 or whatever), then the answer is "yes, most accounts".0 -
I have them on for everything. Direct debits and standing orders happen overnight so I get most of them in the morning and check them when I wake up. I like to have a notification for everything else in case it's fraudulent or a subscription I've forgotten about. They work well in Monzo as they are instant, when I was with Halifax they were useless and could take over an hour to show up.1

If there's any fraudulent activity going on I want to know about it immediately.0 -

Starling notifications alerted me to my account being hacked so I could stop the transactions before they emptied my accountSave £12k in 2022 #54 reporting for duty0 -
Yes - For Most AccountsI keep them on as it helps me keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. Most SOs/DDs get processed overnight so I usually just get 1 notification that says "your XXX number of scheduled transactions were paid out". Outside of that, I turn the notification alert off so all I get is the pop up message.
Extremely useful as it helped me notice a fraudulent card transaction the other week, so I froze my card until I could get in touch with my bank. Glad I did as I was bombarded with about 20 notifications for failed transactions in the hours after when the fraudsters tried to use the card for bigger and bigger amounts after their success with the initial transaction.0 -
Yes - For Most AccountsI've got them set up, money in / out, using my cards in person or online; I do 'lock' my cards and release them for the latter.
It's a discrete sign that appears at the top of my phone, not a full-in-your-face notification, and if anything untoward happens I can act quickly. Why not use the service if it's available.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
Yes - For Main Accounts OnlyNever had the option on my old bank account but a new one we just opened as internet only sends notifications on both ins and outs and both my husband and myself have kept them on. I like them but they literally just pop up as a banner briefly so doesn't bother me.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
