Joint savings?

Morning,
Looking around it seems that there are very limited options when it comes to savings accounts in joint names, particularly those with "higher" interest rates.
My partner and I have around 50k of money and she has expressed concerns that majority of this is in accounts in my name. This is a fair point of course.
Does anyone know why the same interest rates don't exist on Joint accounts? Or why the accounts like Chase and Atom etc can't be in joint names?
Solutions it seems  are either money in joint account with no interest, or we split the money into separate sole owned accounts.

Open a Virgin M Plus joint account giving interest at 2% on £1000.  A joint easy access savings account will also be provided for up to £25000. Account can be opened online.

Virgin Money is the current market leading easy access account at 1.55% on balances up to £25,000.

I have just opened a joint account with my wife to add to my sole account. In addition, the required current account pays 2.00% on up to £1,000.

This sounds like an excellent option for you.

Many organisations offer joint savings accounts. Start by using Moneyfacts adding "Full Search" and then select "Only show joint accounts". A bit cumbersome but does help.
Examination of savings account summary information often reveals that joint accounts are available. We use joint savings accounts wherever possible.

I just tried that and the VM M Plus saver disappeared.

I know, RG2015, that it can be rather problematic and does not always work properly.
Virgin money does certainly offer joint accounts.

Brilliant, I will look into this.  Assuming it is all easy enough to open online?

Yeah, I think the issue isn't so much that there aren't joint accounts available, but that (it certainly seemed anyway) that the options with the higher interest weren't there. I'll definitely take a look at the Virgin side though.

Yes, although I still think the data and timely updates make the Moneyfacts the best comparison site.

The OP should find this (unfiltered?) followed by research on individual banks/BSs very useful.
