Morning! Got my paint, got rid of the soft plastic, bought some eggs, cottage cheese [hello breakfast!] and tomatoes yesterday. Didn't make it to reclamation yard, but it's cooler today so that's my first stop followed by a friends house to measure me up for some glasses. This is a perk of having an optician friend. Going to try to move the last couple of barrows of stones in the front garden and have measured in case I find somethng new old to edge it with. I was just out by the back door looking round at potter-worthy things and I looked to the side where I've been piling up the stones to see a very young fox standing there stock still looking at me [there's a gap between the garage and next door they and the local cats use as a rat run]...He [or she] turned tail and scarpered back to the end of the garden after a few seconds but that was a lovely encounter to start the day with.Nels, good luck with hairdressers. Finding someone who will do what you ask but also know when not to is quite difficult. I also recommend going into boots or something and getting your face made up for free
Scarlet, hope it's short! Congrats to the weight losers, be nice to your general selves and enjoy the moments...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12 -
Morning all. Warm but dull here and I have the first load of washing on the line and a second in the machine.
I'm trying to clear the decks a bit as we are going away to Lincoln for the weekend and weekends away always seem to generate far more laundry than they should!
Yesterdays Service of Celebration was very different but equally fitting and enjoyable. We got there far too early so spent a short time in the local pub garden before walking over to the hall. There was a horse drawn carriage procession from their house to the hall, with the family walking behind and then the coffin was brought into the centre of the hall for the Service and remained there all the time, including during the buffet, when we all stood around chatting and circulating. DH said how nice it was, once you got used to it, as it seemed she was still there with us, celebrating her life.
Today will be a pottering day and I hope to catch some of the Test Match on tv.
Have a good day everyone.12 -
Morning all rainy but humid this morning need to get on as DD2 and her hubby are coming tomorrow before i take them to the airport tomorrow they are off to Egypt for a week as they love to dive obviously she won't be but her hubby will .
For all those asking Cuba was lovely we hired a driver to take us to Havana in a classic chevrolet Bel Air it was a long day but very interesting the hotel was good but the food dire and i dont think they had heard of food hygiene or handling and as for the mosquitos some people were covered in a horrific number of bites luckily we had taken plenty of creams for protection . The staff were the best so friendly and couldn't do enough for you and we met some great people which made our holiday all in all I dont think i would return but i would recommend Cuba to anyone its a beautiful country and lots to see a totally different way of life , very old style as everything is used and everything is repaired as they have very few imports .
Right better get on have a great day whatever you are up to stay safe and well xSlava Ukraini12 -
Hello all, everyone seems so productive today whereas I am in the land of sloth. I hardly slept last night as I was so hot and uncomfortable, I was going to sleep when the dawn chorus was waking up ! I think a nana nap is on the cards for this afternoon.
I had a lovely time with DD and the DGC yesterday and when I walked down to DGD's school to meet her I saw several swallows dipping and diving, wouldn't have noticed them if I'd been in the car, such a lovely sight. We didn't have a salad but fish and chips from the chippy for tea as we were late coming back from horse riding because DGD needed to untack and wash down her horse as she was sweating ( the horse not DGD ) consequently we didn't get home till late. I brought in DD's dry washing for her as she looked shattered and she said that the school staff are back to wearing masks because the virus is on the rise again and they already have 4 staff off with it 😟
I did a load of washing of my own yesterday, as the forecast was for overnight rain, not so as we didn't have a drop, now it's hot and sunny again but we may have thunder storms later, oh well the washing basket is empty now. I watched the Sewing Bee last night ( recorded ) and I think they made the right judgement but it was so emotional at the end, even I shed a tear 😥.
Hope everyone has a good day whatever you are doing.
Take care all.

Hi everyone,
I'm all over the place atm, I was late up and had to rush round to sort things for the cleaner. The reason I was late was that my little alarm clock isn't here, they went to Glastonbury last night so Steve and I are by ourselves, it seems very strange.
The new shed arrived this morning and Steve is occupied fitting shelving into it, I can't summon up the enthusiasm for it that he has. I am clearing the dining table of Laura's college work and my sewing things so that I can reduce the size and give us more room in there, it may go back once we've tried it but I don't need it for cutting out now so hopefully it will be ok.
Coxy and TA, good luck to your respective relatives, Laura has only one more week and then she finishes, whoop, whoop. She has found a place she can rent a treatment room from September, but fo course her options are limited because of the new baby.
Nelski, I'm not fond of the hairdresser either because my hair is very fine and thin due to my hypothyroidism. It does mean I never need to wax or shave my legs though.
Have a good day.
