Hello
Is it normal for solicitors to email documents and contracts that need signing via email and asking you to print and sign?
Mine did and I am shocked they cant even print themselves and send to me after the amount of money they charge! lol

Pretty normal - it's faster and more convenient than waiting for their post to turn up. Have they actually said they can't print them for you?4

Yes it's normal.
Also pretty much guarantees it's been delivered to you, because it's crazy how much post to the client goes "missing".

Yes, nowadays most of the documents are emailed. It's quicker and clients want quicker, rather than wait for the post. Post/printing of many documents will cost more in money and time and the price you pay for conveyancing would have to increase. Asking you to print out the documents you need to send back (contract, transfer, mortgage deed etc) is more cost effective. You don't need to print everything, just the official documents containing your 'wet' signature.1 -
thanks all

Yeah I'm glad mine started doing this, I print, sign and return in person same day.
I'm aware you're only as quick as your slowest responder but on general principle I'll be rapid, especially because my solicitor is so quick.0 -
It's a cost effective , efficient & less wasteful practice .
Usually they ask if you prefer a printed copy which is extra & slows the whole process down0
