Liverpool M&S Bank Arena, help needed please.

Myself and hubby have tickets to a concert at the Liverpool Arena. Hubby is disabled and uses a mobility scooter so we have appropriate tickets but I have a few questions as I have never been to Liverpool before.

As I am unsure of the timings for travel and the logistics of parking near enough the venue my plan is to get there quite early and perhaps go for a walk round the local area and have something to eat before we go to the show. 

So I wanted advice on where to park. We recently went to the Manchester arena and pre booked the car park attached to the venue, but we found that once on the car park you were actually on the venue property and herded towards security and it wasnt possible to leave  and go out onto the street again once you were parked as you would not be allowed back in.  

So can anyone advise where is best to park near to the  Liverpool arena, somewhere you can go for a walk round the area but is not more than perhaps 5 mins walk from the venue. Someone suggested parking at the arena and eating in there but I would prefer a walk round and find a little cafe somewhere rather than a restaurant - pizza type place.

 There is Q Park which is part of the L1 shopping centre right across the road from the arena. 

 Lots of restaurants etc in the L1 centre on the terrace, there are lifts
