Patio door fly screen?

Do all fly screens just rip to bits? Do you have one yourself that you can actually recommend?

Our patio door is a 1 door sliding door, so the frame it goes in to on the lock side is a bit narrow.

We have to buy a new fly screen every year because by the end of summer they've just split. The ones with the self adhesive that you stick to the frame & the magnets that auto-close them - they just rip on the side that's attached to the framework, specifically the top frame. That's really bad. Then it just sags.

Anything or is that just the way they are?

They do and it depends on how well you treat your item, no offence but on the whole, they do split.

We have those tri fold doors they keep on falling down.
Another idea may be to use good quality, dense net curtains made out of cotton and put up a coupl of hooks for the wire and open and close them. We had them in the old house and this house for the windows and they work for us. Takes a second yo put them up and take down once the small hooks are in for the wire to hand them on.. You could split in the middle to easier walk through etc.

They last longer and look better IMO.

I've got an old wooden beaded fly screen that does a reasonable job. Had to repair it once or twice but they really do last a long time and it stops the vast majority of flies.

We have their pet screens - sliding patio doors and hinged window screens  - primarily to keep our house cats safe, but they do double duty as fly screens.

They also do door and window fly screens, which probably have finer mesh (the pet mesh can withstand being climbed by a feline tubster) but the framework seems to be the same

More expensive than the flimsy velcro screens, but you get what you pay for.
