Does a DRO affect you for life?

I had one and am worried about the impact on job prospects. Are you permanently excluded from certain sectors like financial etc? I may have lost a job due to an old DRO almost a decade ago. I was young and going through a tough time. I’ve tried so hard to build my credit back up but it seems like it will never be good enough?

The DRO should drop off your credit files after 6 years and off the IS website after 15 months so there is no sign of it now.If you are asked are you or have you ever been declared insolvent then you would have to answer yes.But if you are asked are you or have you ever been declared bankrupt then the answer is no.So I would say it shouldn’t really affect you that much now at all.Have you checked the three credit reference agencies to see that it is no longer on your files?0

I think your over reacting a tad here, a DRO stays on file for 6 years, then its gone, forever.
You are not excluded from anything, a decade old DRO won`t show anywhere as it no longer exists.
Are you perhaps confusing debt solutions, (Debt Relief Order) with a default on your credit file, or an AP marker, as your post makes no real sense ??I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thanks for the replies. I wish I was over-reacting. It’s not on my credit files and I wasn’t asked about it otherwise I would have mentioned it. It came back on a background check with no further information.0

Although it drops off your credit file so the majority of companies cannot see it any company you owed money to could still have records.1

Is the company linked to a company who was in your DRO?@fatbelly could the OP make a SAR request to the company? Or something similar? A complaint to the ICO? Just trying to think outside the box.1

others last night to double-check. I read on the ICO website you can have exemptions to access old records on the internal insolvency computers but that doesn’t explain it.0 -
With bankruptcy, there remains a record in the London Gazette but not with a DRO.
I can't think of anything useful to add to these posts2 -
