LostMyMSEAccount says 'The fitter...thinks the...solution...is to plane the back edge of the door by around 1mm. As this is the back edge of the door, it won't be noticeable.'Grumpy_chap said:LostMyMSEAccount said:5mm too big/out
That really is within the tolerance of measurement, slightly not quite 90 degree corner, and I would expect the fitter could resolve.
That solution sounds reasonable to me.0 -
Which is ultimately what I'm going to have to go for. It's just frustrating that my kitchen will now be effectively non-standard. If I ever need to replace the door, it won't fit. Seems to be a more common occurrence than I realized though and all part of the game.Alderbank said:

Still, I wish I could go into a job where imprecision is all just part of the fun
One of those I guess. Once it's fitted and all in, I'll be happy. I think I am frustrated over the fact it's all just been a bit of a mess. 0 -
Perhaps you could plane 1mm off the back of the new door?LostMyMSEAccount said:

LostMyMSEAccount said:Like TELLIT01 alludes to, the issue is that there's no tolerance built into the design. Whether that's the fitters issue to deal with or the designers issue to account for, I guess is open to interpretation.
Its not, if you paid your fitter for everything then its their issue as they are the contracted party. They may make a counter claim from Howdens after if they feel their supplier was the cause of the problem but that's their business not yours2 -
I think you'll find that in the small print of the kitchen plan that it says this
"The drawing is a computer representation of layout and dimension, details should be checked by the installer/builder prior to installation"0 -
Howdens is a trade to trade supplier. They don't sell direct to the public.0
