            Hi all!
I'm putting together a will. There's nothing terribly complicated - a few bank accounts, over time maybe some simple investments, and a house. I would prefer to appoint family members as executors but they all live in Ireland (or further afield). In the event that my wife and I both die too soon, Irish relatives would be appointed as guardians of our child and as trustees.
Is it making a lot of trouble for the future to not have any executor or trustee who is resident in the UK, or does this all sound straightforward enough that it probably won't present a problem?
Thanks!

It can be difficult doing it at arms length. In your position I would make each other executors with your Irish relatives as back- up. Review the wills when your child is 18 with a view to making him/her an executor.

How easy might it be for your Irish executors to open a sterling bank account for receipt of proceeds of the estate? I'm thinking of the current requirement for rigorous ID checks for AML reasons..... If IHT is due they will also have to go through HMRC checks....#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661

Thanks both for your thoughts on this. I'll go with your suggestion @Keep_pedalling as that seems straightforward. Opening a sterling bank account in Ireland is fairly straightforward and if we are ever get to the situation where IHT becomes something we need to consider then we'll know to revisit, so thanks for mentioning that @JGB1955
