Applecare plus or house insurance for new iPhone?

My daughter has a new iPhone bought as second hand from a high street store. It’s an iPhone 11 so I’m looking at insurance.
any advice on whether AppleCare plus is worth it? We do have personal belongings cover on the content insurance policy with a 200 excess and protected NCD that allows 2 claims in 5 years before the NCD is reduced.
is there any reason that I shouldn’t use the contents insurance rather than Apple Pay other than the excess being larger? Would they still bump the price up at the next renewal if I had made a claim for what would be 200?
thanks.

Remember that NCD is a very poorly developed idea in Home insurance and most do not use it and so whilst it may be protected with your current insurer if you were to look at other insurance companies they would see you as having 0 years since your last claim. Plus as you speculate NCD is a discount, even if you continue receiving a 30% discount that doesn't mean the base premium doesn't increase even if you stay put.
Not sure if you can buy AppleCare+ or AppleCare+ and Theft/Loss on a secondhand phone but if you can its one benefit beyond the lower excess will be that it includes a warranty element which your Home insurance wont include. On the flip side the higher product is £189 and that's more than many people's total contents insurance.1 -
Thanks for the reply, I didn’t know that about the protected NCD. Still not sure which way to go but will probably go with Apple care for peace of mind, it’s 100 just to replace the screen so probably worth it in the long run0
