BBC 6 Music Glastonbury Festival Ticket Competition
Terms and Conditions
On Tuesday 21 June 2022 from 7.30am, BBC Radio 6 Music will be running a competition for the chance to get a pair of tickets (you and a friend) to Glastonbury Festival. Full terms and conditions are below.
1. The competition is open to all residents of the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man aged 18 or over (unless otherwise stated), except BBC or BBC Group Company employees, their close relatives or anyone connected with the competition or the particular prize being offered.
2. Listeners will be invited to listen to 6 Music between 07:30 and 16:30 on 21st June 2022 to hear four live tracks recorded at the Glastonbury Festival in a designated year. Listeners will be asked to identify the year the archive live tracks were performed at Glastonbury. The listeners will be asked to text in their answer followed by their name after Steve Lamacq has played the final track at 16:25. The competition will open for entries Tuesday 21st June at 16:29 and close at 17:00.
3. Registration to take part in the competition is only available by using the following method:
- By texting 64046 with your answer followed by their name between 16:29 – 17:00 on 21st June 2022. Texts will be charged at your standard message rate. Check with your network provider for exact costs.
No other method of entry will be accepted. If you enter more than once or outside the entry window, your subsequent entries will not count but you will be charged. The opening and closing entry window may change, entrants must listen to be advised during the on air announcements.
4. The BBC's decision as to entrants and winners is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into.
5. The phone from which the text entry is sent in the registration process must be the entrant’s phone. The entrant must be entering on their own behalf. The BBC reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who did not register using their own phone, who answered a call to someone else’s phone or who has someone else answer their phone on their behalf. Further the BBC reserves the right to disqualify an entrant if it discovers the information provided in the text entry is incorrect. This may mean that a winner is disqualified for not providing the correct information for verification purposes, that prize will revert to the runner up.
6. 20 (twenty) entrants will be selected at random and called by the production team who will check eligibility and ask questions to asses who is the most lively and enthusiastic entrant. If an entrant is not available after reasonable attempts by the production team, another entrant will be randomly selected.
7. The top 2 (two) selected entrants will be put through to play an on air head to head quiz relating to Glastonbury Festival after 18:00 on 21st June 2022. The winner will be the on air entrant who answers the most questions correctly. A tie breaker will be asked off air before the quiz in the event of a tie. The selected entrants’ first name and general location will be disclosed on air as part of the quiz.
8. The 6 Music Glastonbury Competition prize consists of 2 (two) Glastonbury camping tickets for the full duration of the festival taking place on Wednesday, 22nd – Sunday, 26th June 2022 at Worthy Farm, Somerset. The winner and/or their guest (if applicable) must provide their own camping equipment. The BBC will provide parking provision at Glastonbury Festival 2022 and reasonable expenses to cover travel to Glastonbury from anywhere in the UK, upon the sole discretion of the BBC. 9. The prizes are as stated above. The prize description may include additional requirements which alter the eligibility of that particular round of the competition, impose additional rules or restrictions specific to that prize. You must read the particular prize description carefully before entering. The particular prize may require collection or additional actions to be taken for fulfilment. The BBC is not responsible for winners failing to follow instructions. There will be no additional elements, fees or expenses covered (including but not limited to travel or accommodation) unless expressly stated in the particular prize description
10. The BBC is not responsible for any element or change to the prizes or access to the prizes that are outside of its control such as travel disruptions.
11. If the winners and/or their guest (if applicable) have any health or accessibility requirements, these need to be disclosed to the BBC prior to prize fulfilment. In order to fully experience the prize that includes experiences or ticketed events, there may be some Health & Safety requirements imposed by BBC, the promoter or the venue. These will need to be followed prior to those elements being experienced. The winner and their guest (if applicable) must also comply with the health, safety and security policies at any venue associated with the prize.
12. The BBC will not be responsible for any failure by the winners and guests to gain entry or re-entry to the event due to the behaviour of the winners and guests or their failure to meet the admission requirements of the event. Ticket holders are responsible for checking admission requirements to the venue. The BBC will not be responsible for the suspension or cancellation of the event. The BBC will not provide an alternative or replacement prize.
13. The prizes are non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and are not redeemable for cash or other prizes.
14. The BBC strongly suggests entrants read through the terms and conditions of Glastonbury Festival prior to entering the competition, which can be found on https://shop.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/pages/terms-conditions. The BBC is not responsible for the content on third party websites
15. The BBC reserves the right to: (i) amend these terms and conditions, including but not limited to, the competition opening and closing times and the programmes included; (ii) disqualify any entrant who breaches the rules or has acted fraudulently in any way; (iii) where applicable, disqualify an entrant or winner, withdraw or substitute any prize, should any entrant, winner or their guest at any stage exhibit inappropriate or dangerous behaviour (including, but not limited to being under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or chemical substances or causing a nuisance) before or whilst on air, attending BBC premises or where the prize includes attendance to an event, exclusion from that event; and (iv) cancel the competition, at any stage, if in its opinion it is deemed necessary or if circumstances arise outside its control.
16. The BBC, its sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem which may result in any entry not properly registered.
17. Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them when registering.
18. To the extent permitted by law, the BBC will not be liable for any loss or damage (whether such damage or losses were foreseen, foreseeable, known or otherwise) including financial, reputational loss or disappointment.

20. The competition is run by the BBC. The applicable law is that of England and Wales.

Why are we doing this and how can you participate?
The BBC is giving away a pair of (2) camping tickets to Glastonbury!
To be in with a chance to win, take part in competition on Tuesday 21st June 2022.
6 Music will play four archive live tracks recorded at the Glastonbury festival, all from the same year, with a track featuring in each of the network’s shows between 07:30 and 16:30. Following the final play on Steve Lamacq’s show at 16:25, listeners will be invited to send a message via SMS, naming the year the tracks were played at Glastonbury.
You have approximately thirty (30) minutes (between 16:29 – 17:00) to send us the year in full numerical form, along with your name.
We will select 20 people at random using an independent, randomised draw system and five (5) of those people will be contacted by telephone. Two (2) people will be selected to join Steve Lamacq on-air to answer five questions relating to the festival. The listener who answers the most correctly will win the pair of tickets. If there is a draw, a tie break question presented to the callers will be used to determine the winner.
We may use your contribution for promotional purposes on the BBC’s social media sites.
If we broadcast your contribution on-air, this may include the programme being available online and/or on demand, and your contribution may be used again in a future broadcast.
What personal data will BBC collect and how will we use it?
The BBC will collect and process your personal data for the purposes of administering the 6 Music Glastonbury ticket competition.
Personal data:
You must be 18 years or older to participate in the competition. The BBC will collect and process the following personal data about you:
- Name
- Age
- Mobile number
If you are the winner we will also process the following:
- Email address (to communicate with you about the tickets)
The venue may also request proof of age.
Who is the Data Controller?
The BBC is the “data controller” of your personal data. This means that the BBC decides what your personal data is used for, and the ways in which it is processed. For the avoidance of doubt, your personal data will be collected and processed solely for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. As the data controller, the BBC has the responsibility to comply, and to demonstrate compliance with, data protection law.
Lawful basis for processing your personal data
The lawful basis on which the BBC processes the personal data is the performance of its public task. The BBC’s role is to act in the public interest and to serve all audiences with content which informs, educates, and entertains.
Sharing your personal data
If you are the winner, your name and email address will be shared with Glastonbury who will send you the tickets via email.
The BBC works with our approved third-party providers who help us to provide some of our services. These partners only use your personal data on behalf of the BBC and not independently of the BBC.
We may share personal data with a third-party where required or permitted by law.
Retaining your personal data
We keep a record of winners for two (2) years for auditing and compliance purposes.
Shortlisted entrants’ personal data will be retained for one (1) month, after which it will be deleted.
Unsuccessful entrants’ personal data will be deleted at the end of the competition.
If your contribution is used for broadcast, your personal data will be retained and archived in perpetuity by the BBC.
Your personal data will be stored in the UK and the EEA.
Your rights and more information
You have rights under data protection law:
- You can request a copy of the personal data BBC stores about you.
- If your personal data is inaccurate, you have the right to have the data rectified.
- You have the right to ask for the personal data we collect about you to be deleted however there are limitations and exceptions to this right which may entitle the BBC to refuse your request.
- In certain circumstances, you have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data or to object to the processing of your personal data.
- You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal data to you or to another organisation, in certain circumstances.
