Sheet Vinyl Over Tiles

Hi, I have just fitted sheet vinyl in the kitchen and noticed the scrap vinyl is large enough to fit the bathroom. However the bathroom floor is currently tiled with some tiles cracked and significant amount of grout missing (see images). If I re-grouted, leaving the cracked tiles and laid the sheet vinyl (felt backed), would this work and have longevity or not?

You will start to see the grout lines through the sheet vinyl with that approach I would imagine. Assuming the vinyl is quite thin?

Unless you make the tiled floor very flat, it won't look nice as the tiles pattern will be visible though the vinyl

Perhaps a thin layer of self levelling screed or sheets of thin ply over the tiles would work.

I don't know if that is a sensible idea so check with someone knowledgeable about such things.

You might need to trim the bottom of the door or make other adjustments due to the increased height of the floor.

A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".
