Comfortable bra

Can anyone recommend a bra which is comfortable , gives good support and does not have very high sides. I get very uncomfortable with bras which dig in  to my side  and armpit region. If it were pretty and not eye wateringly expensive that would be a bonus !   Thanks

Have you been to be measured correctly? Personally I only wear non wired comfort bras so I can’t recommend you a pretty one.

Sadly if your big busted, bras always tend to have high sides 😢

hopefully someone will help you with pretty ones but could be worth you mentioning your size as some styles are only for certain sizes.

    Good luck x

As far as i know there is no such thing as a comfortable bra.  I have been measured so many times and sadly disappointed every time with the result.  I know though that others have been satisfied doing this.

Even  my ongoing favourite Hanes sport bra doesn't always perform as well as one would want.  And they don't last too long being cotton. Then again I buy them in 3 packs for CAD 17 as often as I can get to a Walmart so what do I know.

Yes, I have been measured, but I find that even that doesnt guarantee a good fit.  I was measured in a well known store and then the so called " bra fitting specialist " came back with bras in 3 different sizes " to see which would be best ".  How would you know which size to buy online?
My size fluctuates all the time anywhere between 38b and 40d depending on style, but I find that a lot of straps are not long enough recently and wires are just too uncomfortable these days. I have tried going without a bra but that hurts my chest wall and side muscles.
This is quite a recent problem , 2 years or so,  prior to that I was a constant 38b and could buy a bra practically anywhere. Then I developed widespread pain and bras were one of the things that really became impossible.
    Thanks for your suggestions

Yes !  I had planned to make a day trip to my nearest store before Covid 19 hit, having heard good things about them. Sizes seem to start with a D or DD cup though.  My nearest store is over 30 miles away so I'd need to be confident the journey was worthwhile.

i have large boobs and been measured lots of times in the usual well known and not well known places with very little success!

a few years ago an independent bra shop opened near me and i havent looked back.   the lady that owns it fits surgical bras as well and has years of experience to the point that I walked in and she picked me out 3 bras without even measuring me!!    yes they are expensive (around £30-35) but they fit me and i am comfortable for the first time

they are in maldon but if you arent near there then maybe there is an independent near you that might be worth trying

Bravissimo is only for the larger in cup - if you're not consistently DD+ then I wouldn't bother.

But if you're fluctuating between a 40D and a 38B have you thought about soft crop top type bras?

    Hello,

Am I correct in thinking that you were measured in the shop where "this isn't just any bra this is an x bra" then in my experience they were useless.

I have mine measured at Victoria Secret and they have been spot on every time. I have yet to have an uncomfortable bra from them. They can be pricey depending on how fancy you would like your undies to look. I like that they cater for  several different boob shapes so you can find what works for you.

Fantasie bras are also good but they tend to be mainly lacy and show under tighter clothing.

    Good luck in your search.

Depending on the brand/style your size can vary - for example I'm pretty consistently a 36C in M&S but a good fit in a Gossard bra needs a 38D and a john lewis own brand is a 36D or occasionally a 36DD.

Edit: another forum I'm on discussing this problem, has extensive recommendations for Elomi (but these are mainly for large cups) and Molke bras.

Thanks, yes I've tried a couple; but they either don't give enough support or the band rolls up and becomes uncomfortable.  In the main , though , they are more comfortable than a heavily structured bra.
