UKPC - Parking Charge - Ticket

Hi all,
I've received a parking ticket on my windscreen from UKPC for parking in area that apparently I was not suppose to be parked in, however there were no double yellow lines or any sign stating it was a no parking area. When I returned to my car after 5 mins of leaving it, i found a ticket stuck to my windscreen informing me that I was 'not parked correctly within the markings of the bay or space'. The payment slip has my car make and colour, however they have input the vehicle registration with incorrect letter. When I saw that stye had my VRN wrong I thought I'd just ignore it, but now I'm thinking they may have taken a photo. In which case I'm thinking of contacting them and disputing the case, what do you all advise?

A well known attempt to get you to phone and admit being the driver thereby losing any protection you had as keeper. Read the NEWBIE sticky to find out what to do next - if anything.0

UKPC seem to do this deliberately.
It is very very common and it must work well, by enticing drivers to appeal and blab about who was driving, ruining any chance to win at Popla and saving UKPC having to pay for DVLA data.
Very clever.
As per the NEWBIES thread - appeal on day 26 using the wrong reg to shoehorn the template appeal in as keeper. No mention of the numberplate.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for your advice above, I have just read the newbies page, thank you for the direction. There is mention that if i don't receive a NTK by a certain date, they would likely lose in court. If DVLA are no longer allowed to share my information, how do BPA know where to send the NTK to? Also do you think its likely they took a picture of my VRN when serving the ticket?0

Of course they took photos; you can see them when you log in using the wrong reg and the PCN number. There is mention that if i don't receive a NTK by a certain date, they would likely lose in court.Really? I didn't put that. Newbies thread does not say that?If DVLA are no longer allowed to share my information, how do BPA know where to send the NTK to?No-one said DVLA are no longer allowed to share data. They are, so says the ICO.
The BPA are a trade body, and never send out NTKs.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Why on earth would you pay a bunch of scammers?
These unregulated private parking companies have been called rogues, scammers, and bloodsuckers by MPs from all parties. UKPC were caught doctoring time stamps on their photo "evidence" to make it look like motorists were staying longer than they really were.
In addition, UKPC's signs never comply with the BPA's CoP requirements.
This will be dead easy to beat because the NTK, if it ever arrives, will either have the wrong VRM, or it will fail PoFA because the details of the vehicle will not match those on the NTD.
That's two winning points for a PoPLA appeal.
Abbreviations and acronyms are explained in the fifth post of the NEWBIES.

Why would you pay a scam, when this is winnable at PoPLA? I advised you exactly how to play it.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
