Hi
i’m currently with British Gas on a deal that was supposed to end on the 27th of June, I’ve tried ringing and the last 7 times I’ve tried but cannot find my account as I was on the old British Gas X tariff. I started a live chat and was recommended I go on the fixed v16 tariff, which I initially agreed to, However on close inspection the V 16 is a single rate tariff and I have two rates. I have started another live chat this morning to change onto a fixed tariff with two rates and they said they don’t offer a fixed tariff with 2 rates.
The other alternative was “ if this is unsuitable we would advise you switch or supply using a price comparison sites as there may be to rate tariffs available elsewhere“ , so where do I go from here?

Your best best is probably to nothing: you will roll onto the Standard Variable Tariff which for the time being is likely to be cheaper than any fixed deal. They don't have to promote the SVT, so they will always try to get you to sign up to an expensive fixed deal. However, you do need to sort out your account so that you can see your bills and send monthly readings. If you don't keep up to date it's likely to end in tears (big catch up bills, etc) and be difficult to resolve.1
