Cannot change supplier?
With British Gas on pre-payment meter, wish to change to credit, tried to get quote from supplier first to compare with others but get this message:
Tried comparison sites and get the same:
Important information about our tariffs
Energy prices are currently so high that we aren't able to offer you a better deal at the moment – so it's best to stay on your current tariff or with your existing energy supplier for now.If you're currently a British Gas customer and your fixed tariff is coming to an end, we'll be in touch to let you know your options.

EDF are still saying you can join them as a new customer on their SVT (but only if you phone them), so that seems to be one possibility. However, their billing and customer service is a nightmare so perhaps not the best option.Octopus have also been accepting new customers on their SVT (but only if you phone them) although it seems you may have to make a few attempts before you get lucky. However, their billing system is far better and in due course will also be used by EDF.1

I'd be focusing on whether BG will let you switch to a credit meter not tariffs. It will be a bit cheaper if you do but not a huge amount.
Are you on a dual rate electricity supply like economy 7?1 -
Looks like phoning them will have to be my option, shame as I like to compare side by side.

No dual rate for electric.BG's single-rate tariffs are essentially the same as EDF's, and you can see EDF's here.(All the major suppliers have the same single-rate SVTs at the moment, there's only any meaningful variation with E7.)N. Just for the record, the term 'dual rate' is best avoided because it's very likely to be confused with 'dual fuel'. Much safer to refer to 'two rate' or 'multi-rate'.0
