Avro and credit style

I received a letter back in May 2022 saying I owed money to Avro.

I immediately disputed it. I never run up debts.

I changed from Avro to Yorkshire back in May 2020. The switch went smoothly.

I always keep direct debits on my account following a switch so if the owe me money they can pay it back easily. Also helps if I owe them money.

I have checked my emails. I have no notifications of a final bill.

I have no money taken out of my account by Avro after May 2020.

The final bill Credit Style has sent me as proof I owe this debt says the following:

“Take a look inside for a breakdown of your final bill – this bill has been calculated using the most up-to-date meter readings available.
You’ll find how we have calculated your final balance and further information including your energy usage and your tariff details.
You are on our Direct Debit scheme so you do not need to take any further action unless we require you to do so.
Your final bill covers payments and charges up to September 26 2021. You’ll find payments and charges since then in your Octopus online account.”

I deduct from this alone that my final bill must have been produced after September 2021.

I left in May 2020. I did not go to Octupus energy. So this final bill directs me to a breakdown of information in a place inaccessible to me. The final bill does not include a statement of my account nor does it list payments made and received. It only details useage from 12 may until 18 may 2020. This doesnt help me understand my previous balance nor what payments they have collected and deducted previously.

I asked the administrators to provide me with a statement if accounts via a subject access request. They said no as it will cost them money.

Credit Style say this final bill is the only thing they have as proof of debt. As I say its inaccurate and issued more than a year after I left Avro. The final meter reading looks like I gave to them.

How do I asertain the fact of the matter? I have no access to Avro online accounts.

I certainly never missed payments. I was never informed of a debt. I have never been with Octupus either.

I marvel at my beautiful daughters everyday. I hope they grow to help others as I do with no thought for themselves.

Firstly how much are they chasing you for?

Have you got any bills from before this end bill with a debit?

You state the end date kWh figures appears correct so any bill before then, knowing the kwh price and standing charges you were paying and a list of payments made you can work out if it is something you want to contest or pay.

The bill states the last reading they got was customer given.

I do not have any bills prior to this as Avro was all online.

I was with them nearly two years and had different tariffs during that time.

I have no clue without a detailed bill of useage whether I owe this money or not.

If the administrators don't want to play ball, then lodge a complaint with the ICO

Does the final reading match the opening reading at your new supplier? If not how much is the difference, there is a certain difference between both that is allowed.

Incorrect - the final reading can be "negotiated" between the gaining and losing suppliers using the Agreed Readings Dispute mechanism, BUT both must use that same reading !!
