British Gas and Their Complex Billing
If you can give me an insight I would appreciate it.
BG took over my electricity account when Neon Reef collapsed. Since December 2021 I was receiving requests for meter readings all the time, so was getting bills all the time. This came to a head when all my bills were cancelled and one gigantic one was given. It was so confusing that I had to get someone from the executive team to help! Therefore at the beginning of May I had a nil balance on my account - which I had accepted as all the amounts I had paid were taken into account. I was trembling at the thought of another bill arriving and sure enough one arrived yesterday. I am a heavy user of electricity for my semi, so this bill once again was again dated 3 December 2021 to 19 April 2022 for about £214. I thought all this silliness with this old bill had ended but obviously not.
This latest one is just an update of the old one and it shows no new figures. Just that I owe £214. I am on the variable rate and pay on receipt of bill - thank goodness I am not on direct debit - I would be bankrupt sooner rather than later.
Today I received a request for a meter reading (I knew that would be coming sigh!) which I did and have another screen info that now says my next bill is approx £415 and will be receiving the bill shortly. I don't know whether the £415 includes the £215 which at the moment I am not inclined to pay. I want to move on and not be haunted by the 3 Dec 2021 to 19 April bill all the time. Luckily, I keep all the old bills as once they are cancelled from my account they vanish
I just wonder how long BG are going to keep finding something to add to the 3 Dec 2021 to 19 April 2022 when I thought that was done and dusted. I have sent this info to the Managing Director again as I have no faith in chatbot or the humans involved. But wanted to know if others have been affected in the same way.

Thank you Gerry1 I write to them using the managing director's address and then someone eventually contacts me by email. I get nowhere by chatbot or email. I am glad I am not alone but BG is bleeding me dry.0

Thanks Gerry1 - have read again. I have looked at my two bills again and I see that for the one that they say I owe £215 it is because they have fabricated what I have used - even though the meter readings are the same. I only intend to pay the amount for the latest bill whenever that arrives but that will presumably be added to the monster bill which appears to be never ending!0
