Is there a course available on the British Gas billing system?

Sure enough, I received this in my absence this morning, which must certainly apply to other forum members and customers
We are contacting you to let you know your electricity tariff, Welcome to British Gas, comes to an end on 31st July 2022 and now is the time to decide what to choose next.
If you do nothing, we’ll move you onto our Standard Variable tariff which is currently the cheapest available – however, its price is likely to increase when Ofgem reviews the energy price cap again in October.
Alternatively, you might like to switch to our exclusive fixed-rate tariff, Loyalty Jul 23v1 - this tariff is only for existing customers and isn’t affected by the price cap, so will give you the peace of mind that your prices won’t increase until July 2023.
Please see below to compare your current rates, which are expiring, to the Standard Variable and the fixed rate tariff, Loyalty Jul 23v1. We know these tariffs are priced higher than what you are paying at the moment and we are here to help you as much as we can. If you need any guidance or help to manage your payments visit here.
Unfortunately, our call centre agents will not be able to offer any better tariffs than what is shown in this email or your online account.
Decide before July 1st. Exit fees of £100 apply to the fixed rate tariff.
Just when I thought I might have a couple of months to relax without having to think about energy costs. Was everyone expecting their BG tariffs to change at 31/7?

@Deleted_User Yes, I did notice that myself later on. An accident, or trying to panic customers into a fix? Having said that, on initial examination, it doesn't seem too bad as fixes go. A deadline of July 1st though, and might even be pulled earlier if there are sufficient takers. BG customer service is so poor, though...
I also noted the 'you will not get a better offer from our call centre agents', so don't bother trying...0 -
Since my 2019 flat occupation I've been conscientiously submitting electric meter readings monthly.
EDF > People's Energy > BG.
Even on my frequent times away from home I've had a family member email me my meter readings so I could keep things up to date.
Only right at the end of the People's Energy demise, by means of some glitch, did an industry entered estimate insert itself into the flow. And boy was that estimate from somewhere in outer space.
This means I don't really know where the British Readings are starting and continuing from, as later monthly readings are way lower than the official September 2021 estimate.
Also the bills are coming thick and fast and seem to be for duplicated time periods.
I'm not much of a spreadsheet user but things seem to be getting sufficiently complicated to land me firmly in that area, currently without a paddle.
So, please can anyone recommend a simple as possible "Calc" spreadsheet template, suitable for UK electric bill organisation and calculation?

I had massive problems when I was shunted from Ebico to British Gas,to be fair Ebico's fault and they were no longer around to sort things out. I found a link on here somewhere to take my complaint "to the top" and the lady who handled my case was excellent. It was very involved and took about 6 months all in. In that time I was blatantly lied to by 2 BG customer service people, not good.
Only today they've turned a bad situation into a much more complicated one with their billing system ,different issue, same not fit for purpose company.0 -
I suspect that this email is worded that way as a consequence of the well publicised c**k up BG made over the wording of initial emails sent out at the end of last year to SOLR customers re the Welcome to BG tariff, where they appeared to be guaranteeing the Oct. 21 cap rate until 31st July ie no increase from 31st March.Deleted_User said:StartledJesus said:Sure enough, I received this in my absence this morning, which must certainly apply to other forum members and customersYes, I got this, too. However, although it says "We know these tariffs are priced higher than what you are paying at the moment", if you read on, the standing charges and unit rates for "Welcome to British Gas" and "Standard Variable" seem to be identical, so in effect it is just a change of tariff name.
In the event they "reneged" on this "promise" arguing that it was a simple mistake, altho quite a few customers were compensated with amounts between £30 and £100 for the mistake.0
