If someone had a debt that first went into default from early 2016 should it not be wiped clean from your file six years later?

if it wasn’t wiped what can be done?

The default comes off 6 years from being put on.

If there is an error with data on your file, raise a dispute with the relevant CRA.
  • Keep in mind that if it defaulted say in the last month (but in 2016) it might take longer for it to disappear from the free credit reports.

As above, you can raise a dispute if there is a problem with the default not disappearing - though you should be careful and check the file as some naughty debt collectors will change the default date to when they bought it, rather than the original debt default date
  • The default date is definitely over six years ago but it’s still there on the credit file

i have disputed it saying it’s now six years and a few months old

its should be warped clean automatically
