Hope someone can clarify,
Am trying to replace my dead kindle with an ereader to borrow library books and am looking at a used kobo n905 touch. Basically , does anybody know if this is suitable via the libby app/overdrive?This model is not supported by kobo anymore but an article stated that all kobo ereaders allow you to borrow books..Cant afford a new one as they are far too expensive for my wallet

The Kobo website says that model is still supported. It doesn't have Overdrive built-in but you would be able to borrow books by downloading to a PC or Mac (it needs Adobe Digital Editions installed which doesn't have an Android version) and then copying to the ereader. Procedure is here https://help.kobo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019374554
Can be clunky, be ready to install previous versions of ADE if the book won't open on the Kobo. Plenty of user support on the ADE community pages and on Reddit.1 -
I've had an N905 Touch for years from new. It's been regularly updated, most recently on 31/05/22. They have 2GB internal storage and you can also use a Micro SD Card for additional storage so they will hold a lot of books. If you do use a computer, the free Calibre program is very good for connecting to the Kobo to transfer and store books off the device.1

From my experience using a Kobo for downloading books from the library was a hell of a faff. Quite loborious, plus the choice of e-books was very limited. Honestly I wouldnt bother. Buy books, physical or "E", or physical from library. one of the worse spends of £100 I ever spent.0

The choice of library e-books is, of course, down to the stock policy of your local library. What you can do is join other libraries, many are perfectly happy to let non-local residents join just to borrow e-books (and audio books). I've found that London libraries are particularly accommodating, together with New Zealand!
You can add many libraries to Overdrive and a search for a particular author, title etc will search all of their catalogues.
I've done this using a PC, the Overdrive implementation on the Kobo is geared to connecting to just one library at a time.
if you want to read a particular e-book, particularly something recently published, then Kobo's own bookstore will sell and load to the reader in moments - but this is a Moneysaving site so maybe the free options are worth a little more effort.1
